Beauty

A friend forwarded me an email that contained a link from Dove's website regarding Campaign for Beauty (http://www.campaignforrealbeauty.com/) and I was amazed. The past week or so I have had a lot of things came into my path and they have all had something to do with beauty. In Sunday School this past week we had a discussion on beauty....then I received this email from my friend Andrew....and so the questions poured out. Do we have to buy the latest trends, are we trying to "Keep up with the Jones'" and so on? By the way who are these Jones' people and why would I keep up with someone I don't even know?

Anyway, as I read the bible more and continue to grow in my walk with God I have realized I am beautiful for who I am. Not what I look like, not what I wear, and not even what I smell like. (I do shower daily folks just so you know, only out of concern for the well being of others I work and live with...hehehehe) I am beautiful because I am a child of God. He created us all different in this world. Who else would have such a grand imagination to create all of these earthly bodies and personalities for us to use for our time here on earth? Only God could!!! Isn't it amazing to think of how different we maybe inside and out? Look at identical twins and so on....they look alike - but they are so different!!

I hope that women and men who are children of God (and those who are not) will realize that the worlds view of how we "should" look is very distorted. The most important thing of all is how we carry ourselves in the watchful eye of God. Not how we carry ourselves in front of others here on earth. What purse you carry, what shoes you have on and what label is in your clothing will do nothing for you when you are standing at the gates of heaven......

Pumpkin Patch

On October 6, 2006 I went on Layne's first field trip with school. We went to Honeysuckle Hill Farms, it's a pumpkin patch, cornfield, apple orchard, and much more. First and foremost....the bus ride there was interesting in itself....a bus full of kindergartners is definitely interesting. I laughed the whole way there....these kids were so excited!!! To see the wonder and amazement in their little eyes at every turn!!! The cool "big rigs" on the interstate...the twists and turns of a backroad....the occasional horse or cow......all accompanied with fits of giggles and laughter or ooohs and aaahs.

Once we get there....we are herded into a barn (yes herded) and learn from Miss Dana about Bee's. At first I was wondering how a "herd" of kindergartners could be still long enough through a boring Bee talk....I was wrong!! They were just as amazed with Miss Dana's stories as they were with the drive up there. We moved on to where we could pet some animals and feed them.....they had pigs, goats, cows, donkeys and some fierce looking chickens!!! I walked over to see what Layne was doing and I walked upon him having a conversation with a cow......I couldn't quite here what they were talking about...but it was hilarious. Instead of the "Horse Whisperer" I have a "Cow Whisperer."

The day progressed and we went on a hayride with more fits of giggles and laughter....and I began to realize what a wonderful God we have....I know stay with me here...far off from Pumpkin Patch talk...but not really. Here I am enjoying a beautiful Fall day with a group of rambunctious children.....and the beauty and awe is amazing to me. These children...so innocent and pure in nature....enjoying God's creations together.

Everything from the beautiful flowers from the pumpkin patch to the smiling faces of children as a goat takes the feed from their small hands.....Amazing I tell ya......just perfectly amazing!!!
